Gone Shopping
Cast: Kym Ng, Adrian Pang, Aaron Kao, Sonya Nair
2007 | 100 mins | In English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil with English subtitles | Rating: NC16

Li Lin’s critically acclaimed feature debut is a satirical drama that delves into our national obsession: Shopping. The film follows three denizens of shopping malls – Clara, a 40-year-old “tai tai” facing a mid-life crisis; Renu, an eight-year old latchkey kid abandoned by her parents; and Aaron, an angsty young man who skives work to hang out at the mall. These characters take audiences through a journey of love, loss and liberation where they find that their dreams can be bought and broken.

2012 | 15 mins | Documentary

The documentary traces the genesis of the hit song Singapore Cowboy by Matthew Tan, Asia’s most accomplished country singer, and how he overcame the odds to pursue his passion for country music. By the time he finished school in 1961, he formed Matthew Tan And The Mandarins. Over the years, his repertoire grew and his music was much sought after. This recognition gave him and his band the momentum to record an album, which culminated in his No. 1, hit single Singapore Cowboy.
