Bookbinding Master Class: The Case Bound Book
Learn how to bind a case bound book, a multiple page sewn book with hardcovers. This elegant and sturdy hardcover binding is perfect for blank journals.
Paper and board are provided but students are welcome to bring their favourite decorative paper for their book covers. Students must bring their own pencil, pair of scissors and 12-inch ruler.
Pooja Makhijani is a writer, editor, teacher, and book artist. She is the editor of Under Her Skin: How Girls Experience Race in America, an anthology of essays, and the author of Mama’s Saris, a picture book.
She learned basic bookbinding at the Center for the Book Arts in Chelsea, New York City, and continued her studies as a creative writing graduate student at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. She has taught the book arts at a number of venues all over Singapore, including bookstores, secondary and tertiary educational institutions, and community centers.
