Writing Out Of Wonder - Poetry Workshop By John Burnside
Wonder is something that we treat with caution now, even suspicion, but the poetic tradition is rich in work that stands back in awe, celebrates and marvels at the – sometimes dark – beauty of the world around us. The land, the sky, the great movements of the tides, the lives of other animals – they all inspire us to wonder, in its dual sense of being caught up in the wondrous and of experiencing the deep curiosity that we took for granted as children. This workshop aims to explore the sense of wonder as we perceive it in our environments, and as language reveals it to us in ourselves, who are also part of the natural, part of the wild and the wondrous.
