Make a Book !: A Parent/Child Workshop
Making a book is easier than you think! A piece of paper and a scissor are all that’s required to make a variety of beautiful and creative structures. In this parent/child workshop, make three books: an x book, a snake book, and a Venetian blind book. Materials and tools will be provided.
Pooja Makhijani is a writer, editor, teacher, and book artist. She is the editor of Under Her Skin: How Girls Experience Race in America, an anthology of essays, and the author of Mama’s Saris, a picture book.
She learned basic bookbinding at the Center for the Book Arts in Chelsea, New York City, and continued her studies as a creative writing graduate student at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. She has taught the book arts at a number of venues all over Singapore, including bookstores, secondary and tertiary educational institutions, and community centers.
