SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION SYMPOSIUM 2014 (Half-Day Pass AM) 

Following the successful launch of the first Singapore International Translation Symposium (SITS) last year, this year's event will once again welcome local and foreign speakers and participants from academia, industry and the arts to discuss topical issues related to language translation. 

The theme for 2014 is “Theory + Practice”, in which we discuss the pertinent issues and processes related to the two tracks of theory and practice. 

In addition to a series of thought-provoking lectures and panel discussions, entertaining and educational activities for budding translators and language lovers can also be expected.

These include Translation Slam Singapore and The Great Singapore Translation Machine, in which different translators work together to turn a short piece into another language within the shortest possible time. 

In conjunction with the Symposium, a four-day intensive Literary Translation Boot Camp will be held from 12 – 15 May. Organised in collaboration with the British Centre for Literary Translation, the boot camp will focus on translating Singapore literary works from Chinese, Malay and Tamil into English.
