Captions Without Pictures
A Workshop On How To Write Microfiction With Jason Wee
The writing workshop will be focused on very short texts. We will explore microfiction, short verse, as well as philosophical aphorisms, art captions, cartoon one-liners. The aim is to encourage you to begin small, like a caption to a picture, and to see how sometimes a short line, or a few words will do. Those interested in trying out art writing, short verse or microfiction are very welcome.
This writing workshop is conducted by Jason Wee, an artist, writer and the current Singapore Creative Writing Residency writer.
The Singapore Creative Writing Residency, organised by The Arts House and NUS University Scholars Programme, aims to support emerging writers to create new works.
About Jason Wee
Jason Wee is an artist and a writer. His art practice is concerned with the hollowing out of singular authority in favour of conundrums and polyphony. He transforms these singular architectures, histories and spaces into various visual and written materials.
He runs Grey Projects, an artists’ space and residency in Tiong Bahru. He is a graduate of The New School and Harvard Graduate School of Design.
He is the author of Tongues (2012), a commission by the Singapore Fringe Festival. His latest poetry book The Monsters Between Us was named by TODAY newspaper as one of the top art picks of 2013.
